Vicuña - The World's Finest Natural Fibre
Rare and precious Vicuña fibres have been part of the Johnstons of Elgin story for 173 years, once only available to royalty, and now the jewel in the crown of our fibre repertoire.
Exclusively native to the Central Andes in Peru, Vicuña are the smallest of the camelids, considered to be a wild ancestor of the alpaca. They are shy, alert and fast-moving herbivores, living at altitudes of between 3,200 and 4,800 metres.
The incredibly fine fibres of the Vicuña's thick, soft coat contain tiny scales, which interlock and trap insulating air, making this an exceptionally warm material for our luxurious scarves and stoles.
Featherlight Vicuña products are a pleasure to wear and are soft, sleek, warm and durable... Discover More
