In an age dominated by machines and technical progress, all the human senses continue to play a role in delivering our exquisite craftsmanship. This season, for the first time, we will take you on a journey through those senses – from the delicate touch of the craftsman and the distinctive humid smell of our dyehouse to the unique cloud-like aesthetic of our Cashmere, achieved using traditional hand finishes.
WE ALL LEND A HAND
As many as 37 people play a part in creating a Cashmere or Merino Wool jumper before it reaches your wardrobe. While raw fibre testing can be done by machine, our longest-serving experts prefer to touch the fibre to determine if it meets our exacting standards. The touch and feel of our sumptuous fibres are what sets us apart - showcased perfectly in this season’s progressive edit.
AN EYE FOR DETAIL
Textural details urge you to reach out and touch our whisper-soft pieces, from the cushioned comfort of our men’s Cashmere fleece to the unblemished sheen of our Cashmere Silk designs. Close consideration reveals the visible bounce of our heavier knits and the frothy nap of our best-selling Cashmere Stoles in this season's elegant shades of Haze, Peach and Cashew.
ABOVE ALL THE SENSES, IT IS SMELL THAT TRIGGERS MEMORIES
The characteristic aromas associated with the textile industry take our veteran employees back through decades of time. Like the scent of home-grown tomatoes on the vine or freshly cut grass, the smell stays with them, remaining constant and familiar. Our musty, humid-smelling dye house is where we gently treat our fine fibres using carefully selected
dyes that minimise our impact on the environment. We nurture our fibres, knowing that a cautious approach at this stage will enhance the longevity of the finished product.
LOSE YOURSELF IN THE SOUNDS OF OUR SCOTTISH MILLS
From the energetic sound of our weaving looms to the soothing acoustic of our traditional sewing machines, we invite you to immerse yourself in the magic of our
Elgin mills. State-of-the-art Wholegarment technology allows us to create luxurious knitwear and accessories that are entirely seamless for unparalleled comfort, drape and shape while many of our designs are still finished by hand. It is the juxtaposition of the old and the new that makes our offering extraordinary.
A TASTE OF SCOTLAND
The same incredibly soft
Scottish water that defines Scotland’s national drink ensures this season’s Cashmere and Merino Wool pieces are as soft-handled and tactile as our customers have come to expect. And, whether or not whisky is your tipple of choice, we can offer you a taste of Scotland with the tartans, textures and twists of our Autumn Winter edit.
Join us this month as we begin our journey through the senses with textural men's and women's lifestyle pieces designed to last for a lifetime. Follow the creation of the Cashmere and Merino Wool products which will soon become your forever favourites.
