While we might still be enjoying the last few rays of the summer sun, the promise of a new school term points to cooler days ahead. But before you pack away your shades and sunscreen, we look at ways to bridge the gap between the seasons.
IT'S A WRAP
You don’t have to go straight from beachwear to outerwear when the summer draws to a close. A generously sized scarf or stole is the perfect accessory to give your outfit extra warmth, without adding unnecessary bulk. Drape it around your shoulders or add a belt for added interest.
Our Tartan Border Stole gives traditional tartan a contemporary feel, drawing out the check design into a striped edge pattern. This elegant, lightweight piece is made with Extra Fine Merino Wool, so it will beat an autumnal chill without making you feel too hot.
If you’re not quite ready to say goodbye to the warmest season of the year, you can maintain a summer vibe by leaving a small amount of skin visible. Team a Cashmere or Merino Wool Jumper or Cardigan with shorts or a skirt for that just-back-from-the-beach look.
Our Round Neck Women's Jumper, made from Superfine Worsted Merino Wool, is lightweight and super-soft and is made using the latest wholegarment technology for an entirely seamless finish. Superfine 100% Worsted Merino Wool is finer, smoother and more durable than standard Merino Wool fibres.
The key to dressing comfortably between seasons is choosing your fibres carefully. Misjudging a change in temperature could leave you overheating in chunky layers or feeling chilly in the wrong materials. In contrast to synthetics, Cashmere and Merino Wool fibres are ideal for transeasonal dressing due to their natural temperature regulating properties. Both are breathable and incredibly soft on the skin.
MIX AND MATCH
Rather than packing away your summer staples, look for ways to wear them with your autumn and winter separates. Jeans or tailored trousers are an obvious choice when things begin to cool down, but they can still give a nod to warmer days when worn with a strappy top.
The bold brights of blisteringly hot days might feel a little loud as we head towards autumn. Try layering summer colours with classic navy, black and grey to take them down a notch.
Summer might be coming to an end, but we don’t have to hang up our heatwave hero pieces just yet. With a little bit of planning, your seasonal favourites can carry you all the way through to the next season.
